About

DAMA

The web application DAMA is an undergraduate thesis that aims to assess sentiment shifts of Philippine-centered posts on Twitter and Reddit. DAMA incorporates different data visualizations techniques in which helps users understand what emotions are prevalent on both Twitter and Reddit. Understanding and knowing the emotions that can be found on social media can go a long way for different people and entities. For the general public, understanding and knowing what the public feels can help personally in finding reinforcement on what the public feels. While for public and government entities, understanding and knowing what the public feels can help make laws and decisions base on what they feel.

This app is our version of the Hedonometer by Dodds and Danforth. However this is more focused on Philippine-centered posts on Twitter and Reddit. Data was mainly retrieved through the COHFIE API by Banogon et al. wherein they retrieved Filipino centered Reddit posts and Twitter. However we also scraped Reddit posts to complete the dataset. Lexicons used for this app was the NRC Vadlex and NRC EmoLex.
